with DC work its less horrible as thats done in the car, but you have to run the gauntlet of 253 speed cameras and limits that vary every 200 yards

i think i may have picked up 3 points earlier this week - i was too busy paying attention to a nutter and not the sudden 50 -> 30 cut with immediate cameras

speed cameras are entrapment imo

its almost like they want to force people to use pub transport

on these visits i usually dont get to leave until about 10-11pm. sometimes there are no trains, at all. or you get 'lucky' with the 2:15 long haul that stops everywhere

speed enforcement here is handled too punitively, honestly. some of the positioning is just dirty

and the punishment often too severe

im pretty happy with the average cameras - you have to be basically disregarding the limits to get done by those, a small slipup or overtaking someone quickly isn't going to land you in hot water

there are lots of sneaky places they hide extensively deployed vans etc

they especially like long roads which have limits that are lower than they need to be and which have low traffic / no pedestrians, because they're more likely to catch people

they also hide behind SUVs, vans, trees, etc

If there's a camera van in my town it's all over the local facebook group in about 5 minutes. Not that that would help if you're already driving or from out the area

i remember when they rolled out average speed cameras i thought it was pretty shitty, but now ive seen that they calibrate them for 55+ in a 50 (for example) you really have to just be cruising along persistently above the limit. so thats fine with me

There's a long sweeping bend that's slightly downhill and has a section with no trees that they like parking part way round here, or half way down one of the 2 steep hills leading in/out
