Mage the Awakening was pretty easy to pick up

2020-01-28 15:37:17 UTC

5e was the only one I played with actual people and not as a crpg (mostly 3.5 TToEE there)

2020-01-28 15:37:25 UTC

Some of the simplifications were eeeeeeeh

2020-01-28 15:37:36 UTC

Also we threw out the new alignment chart <:smugon:512048583806025739>

2020-01-28 15:38:48 UTC

Oh wait, that was actually 4th I think

2020-01-28 15:38:55 UTC

*the cursed edition*

2020-01-28 15:40:42 UTC

@Jes I believe it was the 4th ed that started that. At least that was the one everyone compared to wow.

As for wow, well, they took out all the math, but they also took out the spirit, the essence, most of its internal organs and rifled its pockets for shekels for good measure <:smugon:512048583806025739>

2020-01-28 16:02:18 UTC

I hated demoing 4th ed.

2020-01-28 16:03:00 UTC

It was nice meeting new people, but 4th was just a computer RPG played with paper.

2020-01-28 16:03:02 UTC

nah 4th ed was just a combat simulater. it may have been the begining of the direction however it wasnt the net result

2020-01-28 16:03:44 UTC

@DoctorPhobos yeah i agree. which isnt the point of that type of RPG

2020-01-28 16:04:18 UTC

I mean, at least on PC it does the math for you 😄

2020-01-28 16:04:50 UTC

3rd edition made miniatures almost necessary, before which we hardly used miniatures unless to show party order or the like.

2020-01-28 16:05:34 UTC

5th is a blend of 3rd /3.5 and 4th with a bit of 1st/2nd for seasoning.

2020-01-28 16:06:37 UTC

Unfortunately, I haven't done any decent roleplaying for the past few years. Just some Call of Cthulhu and Numenera demos for Free RPG Day.

2020-01-28 16:08:21 UTC

5th doesnt have "meaningful decisions" or consequences for that matter

2020-01-28 16:08:42 UTC

sure, they stripped away some 4of the Tism however the Tism was what made it worthwhile

2020-01-28 16:09:40 UTC

for D20 its Pathfinder 1st ed all the way for me

2020-01-28 16:09:46 UTC

I'm thinking that if I run D&D again, I'm going old school.

2020-01-28 16:10:27 UTC

Pathfinder started out good but ran into the same problem with 3rd and all the splat books.

2020-01-28 16:11:24 UTC

nah, i have them all and I use Herolabs with them all in it.
My rules (setting dependant for tech race ect) is if its 1st party do it UNLESS it changes your source of damage from Str

2020-01-28 16:11:55 UTC

example being the Guided enchant is a 3.5 rules they pasted over then went "oops that shouldnt be in the game"

2020-01-28 16:13:12 UTC

although ive not really played with the standard setting - I always build my own.
Closest i came was 'borrowing' the Core book Pantheon

2020-01-28 16:13:56 UTC

Greyhawk forever for me

2020-01-28 16:40:56 UTC

I do hate these goddamn ultra roaches in RE5 tho

2020-01-28 16:45:26 UTC

the second one in this segment seems to have like way more health than the first one since it can eat three grenades and like a whole shotgun magazine

2020-01-28 16:45:38 UTC

the first one can hardly take 3 nades

2020-01-28 16:48:21 UTC

and this time it took 2

2020-01-28 16:50:07 UTC

and this time I yeet them both no problem

2020-01-28 16:50:09 UTC

so inconsistent

2020-01-28 17:19:17 UTC
2020-01-28 17:51:09 UTC
