what about the coding?

2018-06-21 22:34:43 UTC

It looks like the actual code involved will be pretty simple

2018-06-21 22:37:47 UTC

did you fix the hdmi problems?

If you want to get into soldering, I advise you to get some good shit. A soldering station, with temperature control.

2018-06-22 00:42:55 UTC

Also, get a vice to hold the circuit board.

2018-06-22 08:45:41 UTC

I absolutely agree with @DanielKO on the soldering. Hakko and Goot make amazing tools. Be sure to get a vice with adjustable arms.

2018-06-22 20:17:35 UTC

what kind of vice is non-adjustable?

2018-06-22 20:17:42 UTC

what the hell sort of vice would that be

2018-06-22 20:17:43 UTC

lol

2018-06-22 20:35:18 UTC

Probably adjustable orientation.

2018-06-22 20:36:28 UTC

Some vice are meant to hold an object firmly while you use heavy tools on it.

2018-06-22 21:46:22 UTC

i thought all vices do that

2018-06-22 22:20:14 UTC

ah

2018-06-22 22:20:16 UTC

now all is clear

2018-06-24 06:26:30 UTC

@What Would Jack Conte Do? There's flat board vices that are used for surface mount soldering. They basically look like stanrdard press vices but they have plastic inserts with notches on them.

``like the time i hired a bangkok prostitute to do my taxes while i fucked my accountant``

2018-06-25 04:21:19 UTC

Anyone know a thing about building computers?

2018-06-25 05:13:38 UTC

Yes.

2018-06-25 05:14:30 UTC

I haven't built one in a while though. There's a subreddit or two dedicated for that, you can go and ask.

2018-06-25 05:15:18 UTC

It feels like the biggest mistake is buying a shitty motherboard.

2018-06-25 05:31:19 UTC

I just built a completely new machine about a month ago. Build a lot of scrap machines too.

2018-06-25 05:31:31 UTC

@Brave Brave Sir Robin did you have a sepcific question?

2018-06-25 06:33:34 UTC

I was digging for some parts and found my old PC-G1 - the sony vaio with the Crusoue processor

2018-06-25 06:34:43 UTC

plugged it in and it seems to be completely functional

2018-06-25 06:35:43 UTC

one of these:

2018-06-25 06:36:07 UTC

this was actually a really nice form factor. I'd easily go for a newer machine in this size and layout

2018-06-25 06:37:04 UTC

sony used to have such badass hardware

2018-06-25 08:46:56 UTC

the memory on this Vaio is reported as 354MB (I think some is shared with the video card?). Strange number...

2018-06-25 08:48:00 UTC

kind of depressing to think a Raspberry Pi Zero has better specs than this

2018-06-25 14:13:49 UTC

Yeah my problem is that I got a new ssd and now my computer can’t find my hdd. Anyone got an idea what that might be?

2018-06-25 17:11:04 UTC

Have you tried praying to the machine spirit?

2018-06-25 17:14:46 UTC

No, but I’ve cursed myself for trying to upgrade my perfectly fine working machine
