And, since you can't recruit defense armies anymore, as soon as I captured 3 planets, they revolted and instantly joined the enemy empire that wasn't eliminated yet.
There's no reason for peaceful occupation of planets, better to just purge them.

I read about the devs being caught lying about the AI in stellaris, I always assume in games the computer is cheating to fight against me.
It's not the cheating, it's the lying. Then the subreddit got extremely toxic any time someone tried to show evidence of the AI cheating, and the lead dev just kept quiet.
