I got mine a few years after it's launch, so it's been fine for me

yeah the patches and expacs made it much better

but to put into perspective

day-1 DLC was not the normal back then and they gated Babylon, a civ that's been a day 1 base game civ since the first game, behind a DLC

People were pissed

Trading posts were the only way to manage an economy

@Alexmikli I consider interplay/obsidian’s fallout different from Bethesda’s fallout

the AI would denounce you for no reason and if one country denounced you, they all dead

and it had almost no features from civ 4 that everyone loved

Also by civ 5's released people were used to heavily modded civ 4 with all expacs and civ 5 is far harder to mod than civ 4

Like go and check on what mods you can get for civ 4 and then compare them to what you get for civ 5

The difference is stark.

It was more consistent lore wise then 4

There were a looooot of inconsistencies

they're just so well known now that people forgot

a lot of contrivances for the sake of iconic thigns

radscorpions being in DC

deathclaws, jet...

Like shit that *can* be in a place, but it really does raise the question of *why* they're in the place.

Also the appearance of Enclave Power Armor is odd

it's 100 before everything
