reading this wikipedia about John Von Neumann https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_von_Neumann -> suddenly find this gem: "During a Senate committee hearing he described his political ideology as "violently anti-communist, and much more militaristic than the norm". He was quoted in 1950 remarking, "If you say why not bomb [the Soviets] tomorrow, I say, why not today? If you say today at five o'clock, I say why not one o'clock?"[144]"
smartest man in the world (arguably) -> unironically would've pre-emptively nuked commies
Damn, I never heard of that. Very interesting and terrifying
interesting
united states weren't a western ally in 1940
wasn't?
battle of britain is missing!
it only shows allied bombing, not Axis
- but German bombings would seem rather small amount in comparison (not that it would have felt like that at the time)
haha

Well culinary science is a thing, but it's not "cooking"
It boils down to it for the most part, nutrition with an emphasis on the preperation and taste/serving.
Went to culinary school for half a year before realizing it was a dead end field.

https://imgur.com/gallery/k5m0IDx pictures released of the just found carrier USS hornet
whoa, thats pretty cool
Im surprised it stayed whole like that.
Looks like it skid to a hault on the bottom too
i think the shadow is especially neat
Wasn't it scuttled?
They did find the original USS Hornet that did sink in the aftermath of the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands after she was crippled by the Japanese
Was she one of the ones hit by kamakazi's or was that too early in the war?
she was abandoned after they did cripple her water pumps by a torpedo and several armour piercing bombs did destroy her flight deck. but she did not sink before after the main battle, she was a tough bugger
*Speaking of aerial attacks on Naval vessels....*
