What'll probably happen is the Dems with self-awareness will continue to shrink in number and the hysterical left will increase in number until they lose power completely

Then once the right has near total institutional power, they will devolve into stagnancy as they did in the 1990s, and the Left will get its shit together again.

When a group insults all but a small inner circle and alienates everyone else, the remains are always left wing

The argument is when X group with Y beliefs continue to have their believes proven to be incorrect, it's the *moderates* who fall away from the group

The ones whom are more outspoken and open advocates for those beliefs wind up becoming *more* fanatical about them

And because the moderates have left the group, the group as a whole becomes even more extreme
