me mother talks about the terrorist attack today
they didn't even call it a terrorist attack
and they didn't mention the car
cucked media much
@franti was there a point to that?
Capital punishment is so silly
We will tell people killing is wrong by... killing some people, at great expense to the taxpayer
Capital punishment is stupid, because the state has no authority to take away someone's right to life
Not to mention the posthumus exoneration rates of executed prisoners are way higher than exoneration for other crimes
@Fitzydog exactly, either you believe in murder is bad in principle or you aren't anti-murder, it's that simple
@Fitzydog surely that's literally the only authority the state has?
the state has monopoly on force, that's what makes it the state, no?
Negative
The only authority the state has, is that which you give it.
And the only legitimate authority it SHOULD have, is the arbitration of property rights disputes
Capital punishment can be done with greatly reduced expense. Lol
then no state has the right to go to war.
ever.
Probably correct, yes
Only need a bullet. Boom. Cost is greatly reduced.
I don't know, seems to do that just fine.
if the state didn't have monopoly on force, any arbitration would be mute.
because it would have no means to enforce it.
@Jax the Clackker Because we gave it that authority
The monopoly on force is held in commons by the citizenry
Thus, the 2nd amendment
then there's nothing wrong with vigilantism right?
<:GWfroggyPepoThink:400751114221256705>
Define vigilantism
civilians performing law enforcement without legal authority
define without <:GWfroggyBlobWokeThink:398570327942365195>
"A member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate."
Legal authority is a pretty grey area, tbh.
Like, at what level is the cutoff at which the state should have ultimate control over the investigation process and detainment?
What about private detectives? Or armed guards?
both of those require a license tho
And then what about tieing up a burglar in your home when he breaks in?
that's self defence, also sanctioned government violence.
depending where you are of course.
we still get some fuckery where people defending themselves are prosecuted in the uk
