the thing is, they have this idea of a people going missing to be some unknown phenomenon, and they work backwards from there. i've heard a few of these shows, and i think the dude that came up with the idea is using to make money. it is something vague enough to keep people intrigued, but there is never an answer to it. not to mention that they seem to gloss over the fact that people get lost in the wilderness all the time and there is nothing weird about it.
