There are a few cost saving things they can do imo
they are torrent based, so they can easily offset some of their costs by allowing streamers, or their supporters, to seed their torrents from their own clients/seedboxes.
yeah their torrent system is still weird and poorly done
it doesnt work well on low-view stuff so BC isn't great for archives yet
one of the issues is they are using webtorrent and not proper torrent protocol, there aren't any headless clients you can run on a server that supports webtorrent, last time i checked at least.
