They've got great music, though.
I haven't heard any
Hold a minute, let me see if I can find some.
>when you can't find something on Youtube, but you know you can find it in your dad's collection of sheet music.
That's something, anyway.
And this, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62Ek8FVIBnI
I'm at work but will check them later
How does one schismatise from the Ordodogs church?
By schisming
Schism is breaking of communion
Old Believers broke away because they rejected reforms by a certain Nikon
The Orthodox like to say that their liturgy hasn't changed for hundreds and hundreds of years, but the existence of the Old Believers disproves that.
I am not an expert but as I recall, Nikon was actually trying to bring things more in line with the Byzantine rite
Which is barely changed
The Old Believers have the worst reason for schism I've ever seen.
Honestly, yes.
I can only imagine if every rite in the Catholic Church schismed because of basic liturgical reforms.
A dozen SSPX's.
Like I said they're basically Amish
But afaik the anathema on them has been lifted and they're welcome to re enter communion and keep their old rite
Glad to hear that.
The difference isn't dogmatical, if I remember correctly.
But what I mean is
Like, a general sense of communion or from one of the patriarchs, or what?
Now how do the old believers see the gayreeks, probably the same way the sspx sees norvus ordo
The SSPX was partly justified though
Because Vatican 2 wasn't 'just' basic liturgical reforms.
Depends. If you look at the history of the early church you can find plenty of times in which bishops would schism from each other but everyone else would be in communion with both because it was basically a clerical spat - a bit like what's going on with Moscow and Constantinople
Iirc the great schism was originally thought of as a clerical sperging out, that east and west bishops were like "give it a month or so"
inb4 the East reunited and schismed again like, 4 times in total.
Pretty much that, ruin
I'm only aware of once that many eastern clerics were politically manhandled into submission before rightly breaking off again
Wanting military aid is a poor reason to compromise correct doctrine and they paid the price for such sin
^
Don't tell that to Earl Of Gray tho
It happened a couple times mate. The Ecumenical Patriarch literally announced that the Church in Rome was the original Church and re-entered communion with it, until the Ottomans took over and established their own puppet Patriarch who broke it off again.
Again, I've only heard of one time, that being Florence
Inb4 you cite the forged letter
what forged letter
