Did they move buildings?
In the EO Liturgy, there aren't instruments because the Liturgy is the imitation of the hymns prayed by the cherubins to God. And so the choir is singing to imite them and to participate to the louange.
So guitar, orgue, or another instrument are prohibited @Quarantine_Zone
Organs are the one instrument I'm okay with during mass tbh
A grand piano maybe
Keyboards defo no
I hate keyboards
So much
@Quarantine_Zone I believe so
I'd prefer no instruments.
Duh
Liturgical mass is best mass
I like the instruments. Helps keep order and pitch.
@Constantin le Lamantin didn't know that

>What is the meaning of the forgiveness if a person truly repent his/her sin. Is the Christ crucified for our sins?
>What is meaning of the confession if it exists ? Inb4 Increase/decrease the penance and muh the period for purgatory
>No direct description of Purgatory in the bible
I prefer organs or piano if there has to be an instrument
The human voice is the best instrument
@Βασίλειος Θεοδόσιος what denom are you? Ordo?
You have not tag
Converting from presby to Orthodox.
inb4 some people would call covertodox
What do Orthodox say the purpose of confession is?
@Βασίλειος Θεοδόσιος I was born into one of those Korean megachurches
Lol
Confessions is a path towards forgiveness of sins and at the same time, unbounding the bondage of that sin
I don't have a proper keyboard and PC screen working to give further detail
There is a hudge difference between Orthodox and Romans absolution formulas. @Quarantine_Zone
_May our Lord Jesus Christ absolve you; and by His authority I absolve you from every bond of excommunication (suspension) and interdict, so far as my power allows and your needs require. [making the Sign of the Cross:] Thereupon, __I absolve you__ from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen._
Roman one
@Constantin le Lamantin what is the Orthodox one
The Russian is influenced by Latin ones, but it is better than them.
_My child, N. N., may our Lord and God Christ Jesus by the mercy of His love absolve thee from thy sins; __and I, His unworthy priest, in virtue of the authority committed to me__, absolve thee and declare thee absolved of thy sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Amen._
The orthodox one is worth nothing compared to the Catholic one.
_The Orthodox Church adheres strictly to the teaching of the Scriptures that only God can forgive sins, that he does so through Christ in the Church, that his conditions are genuine repentance and the promise of change which are witnessed by confession, and that confession, by definition, is the open and public acknowledgment of sin before God and all mankind._
I will find the Greek one tomorrow, because here it's 1.27am, good night and may the Christ be upon you.
The latin one is just the priest saying he is there to let you know that God forgives you. It doesn't reject the fact that only God can forgive you.
This place given to the priest in the Roman Church is a direct consequence of the Council of Trent, where the position of the priest within the Church has really changed.
We could speak of that tomorrow or another day too, if you want @Quarantine_Zone.
But spoiler : their priest isn't a servant, he is a superhero.
@Constantin le Lamantin Interesting. Lutheran rite looks like this:
Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the (cross) Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
