How many IQs do you wager this conversation is worth?
It was a rhetorical question. Don't answer.

so, I just saw this guy that's living in Russia now, and he went to an Orthodox Mass which is pretty based but he didn't show much of it. The thing though, is that there was a sort of youth group and they went to another place to celebrate something related to Jesus, I'm not sure what it was, and they sang some songs there, is this considered a "guitar mass" or not at all since it wasn't a mass? And is it common, these youth groups to gather together and listen or play music on places that are owned by the Church?
It wasn't a mass, whatever the youth group does in their own time is the youth group's business. It doesn't pervade any sacraments so it's okay
oh yeah I know, my question is if it's normal, to orthodox churches also have youth groups that gather together on another Church's facilities, I think they united on a place for that specific reason, they were listening to music and some were playing music aswell, making games, etc... I didn't know Orthodox did that too
Most worship is good worship, so long as it doesn't profane what is meant to be holy or reverent in its proper place
Side note but genuine question, is purgatory actual dogma? Like do you have to believe in purgatory to be a Catholic?
Yes
nothing unclean enters Heaven
I mean, yeah, but that doesn't necessitate a purgatory
Yeah, orthododox churches do that, but it depends on the priest and the congregation
in here we have teens that gather and talk about how miserable they are and pat on their backs instead of praying because rosaries are old fashioned for them
IM BACK
Another ban?
Yep
The purification is described as the fire of purgatory
I understand that bit, what gives me pause is this idea of another place where some measure of perceptible human time is spent, just seems weird to me. In an eternal context there's no reason that purification isn't something that would be relatively immediate
The process of purification is what we're striving for now, in death would be the perfection of purification, beyond the corruption of the flesh
That's your personal philosophy
I think you tend too much towards somehow imagining something that has nothing to do with what we experience right now because of our relation with time
It isn't the purification of an illness, but the purification of the consequences of sin.
And by virtue of having to acknowledge some things, and realise others with our consciousness, I see no reason to believe in a strong way that it's done in a snap of fingers. However, how it works in relation to the time we know, I have no idea
Isn’t it known that souls in purgatory have absolutely no intention of returning to Earth because they’ve seen glory with their own eyes?
The whole point of purgatory is preparation for the glory. I would imagine these thoughts, if any such still occur, would also be lost in the process.
thanks for clearing it up for me my question earlier, guys
im finally back
tfw discord wouldnt recognize my account details as existing so had to contact customer support lol
i thought i was getting banned for too much shitposting

Heaven and hell also have time though. Only God himself is outside time, so why would it be weird for purgatory to have time?
Time is an aspect of the earth. The new, perfected earth may have time, but heaven is where God dwells, so why would it?
Because humans understand the world through time
