My brother in law who works for a big electricity company that is contracted by the state says if people in Germany would know how much of their energy they have to buy from neighbours like France people would storm the government.
Years and years of pushing the public to accept nuclear energy is bad has made Germany very vulnerable when it comes to energy production.
So much for the story I heard about Germany being the one to sell power to other European countries.

I'm not one to think that any place is a "lost cause", as these are just places/people that really do think they are doing the good/right thing. The problem is that they don't understand that doing these kinds of things can only have a negative outcome for humans.

Even with negative outcomes, people in situations in which they're pandering or virtue signaling think they're covered because the outward appearance looks virtuous. They have a simple and automatic defense

That reminds me of the absurd claims that high illegal gun ownership in places like Chicago and LA is caused by neighboring non fascist states.
Because yeah, some gangbanger is going to go to the next state over and pass a background check to legally buy a gun and then use it to shoot up other gangbangers.
Unless they are claiming that the gangs are stealing them from people that bought them in other states, in which case that's still a gang problem, and not one with any other state.
