Cause I see a lot of christians claiming that Jesus was the worlds first socialist

2019-10-08 21:57:14 UTC

He did make a breadline

2019-10-08 21:57:39 UTC

what DJ said about today's christian standard of morals being different than it used to be seems to be completely accurate?

2019-10-08 21:57:43 UTC

It depends on what you mean by "morals".

2019-10-08 21:57:45 UTC

@ThePortugueseGuy the problem is that my steel man argument contradicts the majority of Christian sects doctrinally.

2019-10-08 21:58:08 UTC

but i'm completely uneducated about the religion and don't actually give a shit about the outcome of this argument

2019-10-08 21:58:13 UTC

My didn't so try to refute that one

2019-10-08 21:58:19 UTC

but it seemed to make sense, what dj said

2019-10-08 21:58:57 UTC

@ThePortugueseGuy it still doesn't make God a consistent standard for morality if he adjusts the morals to fit what standards his chosen people would be willing to accept.

2019-10-08 21:59:32 UTC

Jesus encouraged people to give to others what they could afford to give, even if it was inconvenient, but he said to give freely, not at the point of a sword.

2019-10-08 21:59:39 UTC

Oh man I almost cried today in public because I was watching Matts and Blonde showing the clip of the brother of the dude who got shot in his own apartment.
If anyone is nailing the "live with Christ", he 100% is

2019-10-08 22:00:03 UTC

@Gunner Fox so capitalistic charity?

2019-10-08 22:00:38 UTC

I never said that. You did. and I said you are so far from the point I not even sure that is a point. and gave you the evangelical framework.

2019-10-08 22:01:04 UTC

when did he say that

2019-10-08 22:01:19 UTC

@ThePortugueseGuy there are tons of Evangelicals that would disagree with you though.

2019-10-08 22:01:57 UTC

Matt plays I doub't it

2019-10-08 22:02:00 UTC

If you're theological framework makes it justified then that's fine. My question was geared towards those who don't.

2019-10-08 22:02:34 UTC

Yes i guess that's capitalistic? He didn't say to _force_ others to give away what they earned.

2019-10-08 22:03:25 UTC

Yeah. It has to be voluntary, if the govt controls the means of production, no one actually owns anything and therefore can't willingly give what they don't have.

2019-10-08 22:03:34 UTC

Jesus's teachings cannot work under socialism.

2019-10-08 22:03:36 UTC

If you arent doing something voluntarily, then what does it actually mean?

2019-10-08 22:04:02 UTC

That you're doing it involuntarily :^)

2019-10-08 22:04:21 UTC

That whoever is forcing you to do something should be responsible for that something

2019-10-08 22:04:31 UTC

God only need one reason why what He does is not unfair. He doesn't need that every explanation of everyone that claims to be Christian to be right

2019-10-08 22:09:47 UTC

Although, so that @Legalize doesn't think I'm making a moral argument, that would be true only for people that hold certain moral standards. /S 😄

2019-10-08 22:15:32 UTC

Oh wow you're still arguing this lol

2019-10-08 22:16:06 UTC

Also looking back over your "steel man", @ThePortugueseGuy , it raises probably more questions than it answers. Like, for instance, why did God go from one who can create, destroy etc on a whim, to someone who continues to be able to do that, but must wait for humanity to set things just right?

2019-10-08 22:16:42 UTC

Oh this debate will go on until someone changes the subject. I guarantee it
However it's probably the best debate topic we'll get here

2019-10-08 22:16:54 UTC

Okay okay

2019-10-08 22:16:57 UTC

Real question

2019-10-08 22:17:07 UTC

Which version of the Bible

2019-10-08 22:17:28 UTC

I favor ESV

2019-10-08 22:17:45 UTC

NJKV

2019-10-08 22:18:00 UTC

I've been told that I should swap to NKJ from KJ

2019-10-08 22:18:19 UTC

@micamike45 I hope you’re jking

2019-10-08 22:18:59 UTC

🍿

2019-10-08 22:19:00 UTC

There are errors in the translation of KJV is what I've heard I don't know specifically what

2019-10-08 22:19:07 UTC

Geneva to flex, esv if serious

2019-10-08 22:19:22 UTC

There's only been one I've debated with someone on, that seems to be awkward translation

2019-10-08 22:19:25 UTC

@Beemann Let say christ will only die once and he does need that one time to have the biggest impact on the earth. So while He is on here does miracles so his word is amplified. The same reason why there and why than.

2019-10-08 22:19:49 UTC

My favorite is the queen James version.
