That's the idea behind UBI actually. End welfare and just have universal gibs every month

The idea being that you can't negatively incentivize getting off welfare/incentivize fucking around with the system for gibs if you just get them anyway, and lower admin costs as a result

The only catch is that there's no real proof that it works :^)

And even less proof that it would work at a measly 1k

If anything like UBI would be implemented there is no way all social security nets would be ended at the same time. The reasoning would be that to many people don't know how to manage their money and the government has to oversee and reallocate money for people in need.
