It’s been kinda neat to see the show become so popular. I remember finding Matt in August 2016 and just thinking “why is this guy not more popular?”
I remember that I found Blonde first, and on her videos she would talk about having a show on sundays and wednesdays, and I think that was how I found Matt.
I heard about Blonde when she was on Stefan Molyneux’s show. But I didn’t particularly care for her. I just randomly came across Matt in my recommended section

On Blonde's note, I have never met a black female coder, though the company I work at currently has three black male coders and one Russian female coder, then rest are split evenly between white and Asian men.
But yeah, on a team of 14 coders, there is 1 woman. Everytime I have seen a female coder they are either from Asia or the former USSR.
STEM is more culturally important to women there I guess.

it might also be that they're former soviets the more free a country is the more heavily the genders lean into their particular fields
forcing diversity is a pointless effort. the people will either be miserable or not be the best candidate. let people go where they want to and they should fall where they deserve to be in the pecking order as far as skill and experience.

@DueyBear Ya, like @Lord Zedd said, while they might care about it a bit more, it has to do with less freedom to choose, why those counties have more women in STEM.
STEM is a guaranteed meal ticket in those countries.
So women feel it is the best options.
When you can be anything else reliably, they will not choose STEM generally.
It's not that women can't work outside of STEM in Russia, they can be teachers or secretaries if they want. But those are not as reliable employment.
Also, being a STEM employee makes it super easy to get immigration papers to the US.
Those aren't different things...... If you need more money, you have less freedom to make different choices that you may prefer.
True, but is the limitation of poverty not so much the government, but you are right, property/capital = freedom in most situations.
You can have money but have no freedom of movement and speech, but you can have no money and have all the freedom of movement and speech. Wealth and Freedom have similar benefits, but you can have one without the other.
Saudis are very rich but not free.
(also there are a lot of Arab female coders, moreso than white women).
I would say they are not "very free", but ya, close to what you said.
But with Arab women, because so many of them are homemakers, only women who have the desire and the privilege to work do, so a larger percentage of them are not squandering that opportunity and enter fields that pay well.
I'm not sure that's quite right, but who knows heh.
