Really? Like?
I believe even theology of liberation, which wasn't open to communists, due to their persecution of religion.
("Contras" of Nicaragua.)
No as in what other parties
the fascism and japanese seems justified to me though
With what happened at pearl harbor
and the japanese traitors
What other parties. There were few really.
I believe either German US Bund, or US First of Lindbergh were persecuted. The latter were against war with Germany, much like Mosley in Britain.
german us bund? What's that?
Japanese citizens were persecuted in horrible way and racist caricatures were used against Japanese in general.
Always found that hilarious.
It was NSDAP-approved German US party.
Funny, as "Bund" was generally name of Yiddish parties opposed to Zionism.
So were the germans in war times
The japs were ruthless
NSDAP? That explains it
Yeah they wer their satellite.
Any unjustified persecutions though?
Outside of that, I don't think so. But as you can see not just communist movements were persecuted.
Fascism didn't had broadly such a support in Latin America, for them to overthrow such governments.
You had... I think, Peronists, where many nazis fled (such as "Hitler fled to Argentina" thing CIA files released), Integralists of Brazil who never took power, Falangists of Latin America and I think that's all really.
Strasser also fled to Canada, Canada had its own BUF and NatSoc movement.
Out of those only Juan Peron was really in power.
Ah so the US didnt do anything evil to latin america then
US wanted to dominate the American continent (per Manifest destiny and Monroe doctrine), during the Cold War they were couping democratically elected governments and installing horrible dictators which were much worse (you should read on the tortures of death squads /pol/ memes about today). Which were largely rising to power, because US&A fucked over their countries in the first place. As during the Cristero Wars, where US&A aided anti-clerical government of PRI in sending Protestant missionaries to the country.
I think they're hypocritical in that they pretend to be beacon of democracy, but were funding dictators.
If it was just ovethrowing communist governments, people wouldn't mind it so much really.
But they didn't ovethrow Cuba, only Grenada.
They tried to assassinate Castro numerous times, tho.
I always find it hilarious how US and NATO are so over non-aligned nations (Yugoslavia, Libya, Ba'athists), but the two Comintern members - Cuba and North Korea, are very much still left.
Much worse for the latin americans you mean, not the american people and safety
Hmm...
I hate non aligned nations
Why is so?
Not fond of neutrals
