Punishment doesn't work, psychology has worked when we have applied it after studying what we need to.

Sociology works too

We might find out in the search that its impossible to get a 0% crime rate, but if we do find that out we can find out what the next best thing is

punishment makes us feel good

it makes us get to have justice

What is justice but making sure a crime won't be committed again?

because to us it seems correct to rape the rapist or kill the killer

I agree we're a scary species. I agree we desire vengeance on an almost primal level. I disagree that its something we should allow, or even that we should want it.
