What the Brits did was sneaky, backhanded "diplomacy" along with quelling rebellions and being plain old barbarians. European colonialism was a vestige of that archetypal European tendency to kill, butcher, rape, invade, pillage, loot, and beat; it echos the backwards, primitive cults of illiterate savages that Europe has for so long been home to. While great India welcomed her 4th millennium of uninterrupted civilization, England was still a worthless corner of a nameless island of unhygienic troglodytes.
