And no it isn’t a childish view

2019-12-30 22:48:35 UTC

It’s just one you don’t agree with

2019-12-30 22:48:36 UTC

Nothing will ever be guaranteed, so yes it is childish

2019-12-30 22:49:07 UTC

There will always be a percent of innocents that get caught up

2019-12-30 22:49:29 UTC

Yes so why kill any if there’s a chance of killing innocents

2019-12-30 22:49:40 UTC

Life in jail is a worse punishment anyway

2019-12-30 22:49:41 UTC

Because the positives outweighs the negatives

2019-12-30 22:50:03 UTC

i'm not sure i agree that mantra applies with something so final as death

2019-12-30 22:50:09 UTC

well the police being more 'robust' can help solve the problem - like the guy on london bridge. theres zero chance he wasn't guilty, cost 2 bullets to deal with him properly

2019-12-30 22:50:15 UTC

executing ninety nine pedophiles and one innocent is preferable to housing ninety nine pedophiles humanely and possibly saving one innocent

2019-12-30 22:50:27 UTC

You'll be amused to hear that in Slovenia, prosecution dropped its robbery case because they could not prove with DNA analysis which of the two identical twins commited robbery ... my first thought after looking at their names was to just kill them both.

2019-12-30 22:50:45 UTC

Why not just give people life instead of killing them

2019-12-30 22:50:52 UTC

Then there’s no chance of killing innocent people

2019-12-30 22:50:54 UTC

because its a waste of money

2019-12-30 22:50:59 UTC

And the pedophiles are still not guilty

2019-12-30 22:51:04 UTC

Killing people is a waste of money

2019-12-30 22:51:18 UTC

You are making liars arguments now

2019-12-30 22:51:24 UTC

What?

2019-12-30 22:51:25 UTC

Exactly, just work them to death.

2019-12-30 22:51:39 UTC

you're essentially saying its ok to imprison someone forever, because thats what happens to the same hypothetical 1% edge cases anyway

2019-12-30 22:51:46 UTC

Slave labour built railways when?

2019-12-30 22:52:01 UTC

It is not expensive to execute someone at all, what is expensive is the appeals process they go through that most of them end up losing plus the twenty years it normally takes to action their sentence

2019-12-30 22:52:18 UTC

.. difference being someone imprisoned forever can later be released, and often are.. you can't release a dead man

2019-12-30 22:52:38 UTC

And the ones who manage to lodge appeals in all but a handful of cases only manage to get it changed from death to life- so its not guilty to innocent

2019-12-30 22:52:38 UTC

i just think if you have video footage of a guy throwing a grenade at a schoolbus, and in court he says 'yes i threw a grenade at a schoolbus and i'd do it again' - imprisoning him forever seems like a waste of effort

2019-12-30 22:52:57 UTC

At least there’s more chance of the innocent person to have his case looked at and if he comes out as innocent then at least he can be let out then, if he’s dead you’re kinda fucked

2019-12-30 22:53:03 UTC

Fucked *

2019-12-30 22:53:28 UTC

People like you are the problem with the world dude....

2019-12-30 22:53:33 UTC

Why

2019-12-30 22:53:38 UTC

Because I don’t agree with you

2019-12-30 22:53:51 UTC

Would rather break a system over an individual than try to work around it and minimalise it

2019-12-30 22:53:58 UTC

throwing the baby out with the bath water or some shit

2019-12-30 22:54:12 UTC

You guys do realise the death penalty doesn't lead straight to death, right? It's not a matter of days before death. It's years of retrials and double, triple checking to make sure they have the right guy.

2019-12-30 22:54:25 UTC

> Some of you will die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make

2019-12-30 22:54:32 UTC

The bottom line is if I threw out odds of 99% to 1% for nearly everyone here you can bet your ass they would take the 99%

2019-12-30 22:54:38 UTC

Because those are extremely good odds

2019-12-30 22:54:52 UTC

Yes but there’s still so many cases of innocent people getting killed it’s more then 99%-1%

2019-12-30 22:55:01 UTC

Now if we can get it 99.9% to 0.1% that is extremely good, but there will always be the possibility that someone innocent gets killed

2019-12-30 22:55:05 UTC

I’ll need to find the us death penalty stats I saw

2019-12-30 22:55:14 UTC

It’s more like 10-20 percent

2019-12-30 22:55:16 UTC

if it was going to come back it would need to be overhauled and nothing like the US. the method (unnecessarily expensive and inefficient) and death row (15-20 years on average?)
