norway increased their budget from 6 billion to almost 8 billion

2019-10-23 03:42:10 UTC

thats hardly a difference when we spend over 700 billion on our military

2019-10-23 03:42:29 UTC

Ye

2019-10-23 03:42:37 UTC

And most tax goes to military

2019-10-23 03:43:13 UTC

imagine if 600 billion were to stop being funnled into NATO

2019-10-23 03:43:45 UTC

it would complely stop the militarys of NATO that didnt already fund their own militarys like Turkey does

2019-10-23 03:44:16 UTC

Yep

2019-10-23 03:49:10 UTC

600 billion isn’t funneled into NATO you absolute mong. Literally read the chart you just posted it says only 30 billion is directly spent on europe with the rest of the spending going towards our own military which has assets across the globe. Most european defense in operated by europeans. More or less we provide manpower and weapons systems for europeans to purchase.

2019-10-23 03:50:10 UTC

And to pick on Norway as an example of spending when they have a population less than Indiana isn’t saying much

2019-10-23 03:51:27 UTC

Maybe look at Germany or Britain. Germany specifically put funding into recruiting some 20,000 men over the last two years in response to Russia.

2019-10-23 03:52:21 UTC

germany also trains tank maneuvers with broomsticks and is notoriously underfunded

2019-10-23 03:52:34 UTC

and does not want to change

2019-10-23 03:52:46 UTC

Page 4 graph 5

2019-10-23 03:53:22 UTC

NATO guidelines require at least 2% funding of GDP into defence

2019-10-23 03:53:37 UTC

USA is 5.28 %

2019-10-23 03:53:42 UTC

Which is completely arbitrary

2019-10-23 03:53:49 UTC

europe and canada 1.48

2019-10-23 03:54:03 UTC

Germany has begun to change as has Europe in the face of russia

2019-10-23 03:54:22 UTC

out of 919 billion dollars in 2018

2019-10-23 03:54:30 UTC

605 was USA dollars

2019-10-23 03:54:45 UTC

313 was europe and canada combined

2019-10-23 03:54:57 UTC

You can see in the link you just posted that non-american spending has been rising

2019-10-23 03:55:13 UTC

Because now they have something to spend it for, Russia.

2019-10-23 03:55:47 UTC

There hasn’t been a need for most european nations to spend so much for the past three decades, unlike the US has as the world peace keeper.

2019-10-23 03:56:00 UTC

2011 percentage of GDP spent on defense
1.52 in 2011 1.48 in 2018

2019-10-23 03:56:34 UTC

Germany (Euros) 34,630 36,168 34,593 34,749 35,898 37,598 40,447 41,913
from 2011 to 2018

2019-10-23 03:56:44 UTC

the monetary value has slightly increased

2019-10-23 03:56:51 UTC

that is true

2019-10-23 03:57:12 UTC

Albania (Leks) 19,877 19,820 19,022 18,788 16,671 16,250 17,199 19,492

2019-10-23 03:57:23 UTC

Hungary (Forint) 295,967 297,650 286,341 281,402 316,338 362,798 402,793 484,031

2019-10-23 03:57:31 UTC

Hungary has really increased theirs though

2019-10-23 03:57:41 UTC

Comparing 2011 to 2018 overlooks that spending was still declining until Russia annexed crimea in 2014.

2019-10-23 03:57:53 UTC

but over all the values have stayed the same

2019-10-23 03:58:00 UTC

Since 2014 it’s gone up

2019-10-23 03:58:02 UTC

adding 3-6 billion to the budget

2019-10-23 03:58:04 UTC

does nothing

2019-10-23 03:58:11 UTC

thats very little

2019-10-23 03:58:17 UTC

Because it’s only been four years and the politics take time to change
