But if there is counter protestors there, we are outside the bounds of the permit, the police can shut it down before we even are legally able to assemble

A permit is a courtesy to the police and provides you with certain legal protections and makes the police obligated to protect you and secure the area for you. Antifa tried to occupy the rally area at a Confederate flag rally recently and it blew up in their face. The police ran their asses off and three got arrested, leading to mass doxing online. Then Antifa was totally demoralized and just started leaving within a half hour.

@Narrative-Collapse the issue I'm concerned with would be the police and city(who aren't on our side) declaring the event "unsafe" and unlawful because of any sort of confrontations that may occur before the permitted time.

So essentially it's best to NOT go early. Then the police will drive them out when our time comes 👌🏻
