Uh-oh: Silicon Valley is building a Chinese-style social credit system
In China, scoring citizens’ behavior is official government policy. U.S. companies are increasingly doing something similar, outside the law.

But generally even many economic right wingers don't go as far as open borders

2019-08-26 19:56:56 UTC

They are pragmatic on this issue

Bernie Sanders praised communist Cuba and the Soviet Union in the 1980s

Open borders only really benefits big companies since it just gives them access to cheap labour

2019-08-26 19:59:12 UTC

It's mostly pushed by Neoliberals like Hillary Clinton than libertarians. But yes, open borders is a theoretical libertarian position, just that not many of the grassroots libertarians support it.

2019-08-26 19:59:21 UTC

Bernie isn't really super left, so I don't expect him to support a sort of radical position like full on open borders

2019-08-26 19:59:42 UTC

I'd go as far as to say that he isn't even moderate left

2019-08-26 19:59:48 UTC

Open borders is not compatible with a soc dem welfare state

2019-08-26 19:59:56 UTC

And Sanders is a socdem

2019-08-26 20:00:02 UTC

"Moderately radical"

2019-08-26 20:00:15 UTC

Bernie Sanders is mainly just a Social Democrat, Not even really an extreme one

2019-08-26 20:00:32 UTC

US Democrats: Lets have open borders...

"Bernie is a centrist"

2019-08-26 20:00:51 UTC

Hoo boy

2019-08-26 20:00:58 UTC

Never said he was a centrist

2019-08-26 20:01:13 UTC

"I'd go as far as to say that he isn't even moderate left"

2019-08-26 20:01:24 UTC

🤔

2019-08-26 20:01:25 UTC

Doesn't mean I said he's a centrist

2019-08-26 20:01:30 UTC

Yes it does

2019-08-26 20:01:36 UTC

You ruled out far left

2019-08-26 20:01:42 UTC

You ruled out moderate left

2019-08-26 20:01:57 UTC

Okay, I'll rephrase it

2019-08-26 20:02:04 UTC

Centrist and or any sort of right-wing is the remaining options

2019-08-26 20:02:09 UTC

It would leave some positions like Social Liberalism

2019-08-26 20:02:15 UTC

My boy mr obvious getting recognition.

2019-08-26 20:02:36 UTC

Instead of blanket left and right equivalence classes, judging by ideology is more informative

2019-08-26 20:02:50 UTC

Bernie is a socialist

2019-08-26 20:02:51 UTC

Done

2019-08-26 20:02:52 UTC

Open border lgbt leftists.

2019-08-26 20:02:56 UTC

How about that

2019-08-26 20:03:44 UTC

Both Neoliberals and Soc Dems are "leftists", one ideology benefits from open borders, the other doesn't

2019-08-26 20:03:45 UTC

So what if Bernie is a Socialist?

2019-08-26 20:04:42 UTC

If they’re left, they’re authoritarian and wrong.

2019-08-26 20:04:56 UTC

Nah, libertarian left is a thing

2019-08-26 20:05:00 UTC

I don’t care about the nuance of their ideology. They’re just wrong

2019-08-26 20:05:01 UTC

Ubi and shit

2019-08-26 20:05:06 UTC

Libertarian is right

2019-08-26 20:05:08 UTC

Noam Chomsky is a good example
