Primal state best state
Okay, remoaner
not what i was saying, rooms; your purpose is EXTERNAL until you are faced with adversity and really figure out what YOU value
Monarchoprimitivism when
@ManAnimal and now every fucking protagonist in the hollywood movies runs back into the burning building to save their faucking custom vape
yup
And that is supposed to be somehow tragic
yes uksio, especially if all you have known is a life of plenty
Not sure what hollywood is trying to convey there
that they care for their vape most of all
again, externally driven
their 'fire' is from the outside, what others tell them they should be
rather than deciding and FEELING what they themselves beleif is important
and pursuing that to their fullest
TBH, if my workplace was on fire, the first thing i'd do is move my car
I agree with stoics on one thing: your mind and your body are the ONLY true posessions in your life
Everything else is external,
i agree with stoics in their actions; don't let emotion get in the way
but not in their motivations or outlook that DRIVES one's actions
But if you lost things. That's nothing indeed
You can acquire new things, just as good or better
They are not worth the emotional suffering
"If you want to truly understand a man, make him ANGRY. Fight him. It's only then your'll see the real person. You'll see WHAT they care enough to fight for and HOW they fight when what they care about is on the line"
but everything is perceived via "external" senses and interpreted via consciousness so couldnt everything be internal?
well, there is a fine line between being materialistic and fighting to protect what your family worked and slaved generations for
indeed
plus, one's abilities to acquire new things factors into the cost/benefit analysis
(as an aside: these are now officially wholesome philosophy hours. Lovely discussion)
perception is the mechanism of sensing reality, yes. BUT we create representaions in our mind of how the world IS an how the world SHOULD BE
it's that 'internalized representation of how the world SHOULD BE' that should drive your actions; not how those actions will be perceived by others
The ordinary Hero risks his life to save the world in a great battle for his way of life. The EXTRAORDINARY Hero will give his life alone, in the dark where no one will ever know to PROTECT that which he values most....
One is done because of the reaction the person will envoke from others. The other is done simply because HE feels it is nessecary regardless if the entire world agrees with him or not.
This is why perception needs a constant "calibration"
^^
my words EXACTLY
otherwise, ANYONE starts to sniff their own farts
And the best way to do it is to experience things and apply rational thought (if not a full scientific method) to the experienced phenomenon
Exept for feels
Feels are something irrational from the start
