2019-10-16 23:26:01 UTC

I dont fully agree with that . Thing is thomas jefferson existed in a time with drastically different power balance and a different world

2019-10-16 23:26:04 UTC

2019-10-16 23:26:08 UTC

2019-10-16 23:26:31 UTC

@lancelout britain was world police, **and** we had fended off britain

2019-10-16 23:26:33 UTC

Britain is still world police tbh, like whenever we went places people emulated us 🤔

2019-10-16 23:26:33 UTC

i agree with that. a more specific interpretation of the Monroe Doctrine that accepts each country has their own sphere of influence

2019-10-16 23:26:43 UTC

@Spooky Melon Basically, yeah. Our intervention in WWI led to the rise of the Nazis and the commies in WWII:

2019-10-16 23:26:57 UTC

2019-10-16 23:27:05 UTC

2019-10-16 23:27:28 UTC

Whoopsie poopsie

2019-10-16 23:27:35 UTC

The problem with the current paradigm is that it allows a 3rd rate nuclear power to frame a superpower in order to draw retaliation from another superpower

2019-10-16 23:28:15 UTC

Cats out of the bag now though Manimal

2019-10-16 23:28:17 UTC

as long as mutual retaliation treaties exist, it will only take a minor nuclear exchange to set off a cascade reaction

2019-10-16 23:28:24 UTC

British army has 80,000 active soldiers, of that about 25% of them are broken or injured, so 60,000 deployable, of that you can only put them on for a max of 6 months, so at any one time 30,000, of that half of them are already away covering various things <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898>

2019-10-16 23:28:34 UTC

Setting aside whether FDR actually knew in advance about Pearl Harbor, you could argue we were attacked first by Japan and were justified in retaliating. The Empire of the Rising Sun was actually quite ruthless and fanatical compared to the Japanese of today. They were a lot like ISIL in their tactics of beheadings, kamikazing, and terror.

2019-10-16 23:28:41 UTC

that's what bothers me about the dismissal of the mid-range missle treaty

2019-10-16 23:28:54 UTC

@Marushia Dark okay, but we shouldve left germany alone, and not sent aid to the euros

2019-10-16 23:28:59 UTC

because only japan had attacked.

2019-10-16 23:28:59 UTC

The VHR units are probs the only ones you could call on to move quickly and even then they aren't a fighting force to hold ground

2019-10-16 23:29:09 UTC

germany didnt violate the NAP

2019-10-16 23:29:15 UTC

it makes it too easy for people to have the false beleif that a small nuclear exchange won't lead to massive retaliation

2019-10-16 23:29:16 UTC

So Hentai will fix ISIS??

2019-10-16 23:29:21 UTC

GB no longer has the capacity to occupy tbh <:pot_of_kek:544849795433496586>

2019-10-16 23:29:53 UTC

You do realize that most of the actual atrocities of the Nazis - such as the Holocaust - weren't actually discovered until more or less AFTER the war was already won, right? Like IIRC, it was the Red Army who first found the camps (and they weren't entirely trustworthy after incidents like Katyn).

2019-10-16 23:29:57 UTC

This is why UK needs to end foreign aid and increase military budget.

2019-10-16 23:30:18 UTC

@Marushia Dark exactly, so under your argument

2019-10-16 23:30:20 UTC

we had no business

2019-10-16 23:30:23 UTC

fighting germany

2019-10-16 23:30:24 UTC

in ww2.

2019-10-16 23:30:29 UTC

THere was plenty of indication of an attack on Pearl Harbor but then there are always indications. One cannot realistically take each seriously. Hind-sight is 20/20

2019-10-16 23:30:29 UTC

Basically, yeah

2019-10-16 23:30:33 UTC

**what**
