imagine being a remainer

2019-11-11 01:15:35 UTC

xd

2019-11-11 01:15:52 UTC

That's why we're overhauling our energy generation system <:thunk:462282216467333140>

2019-11-11 01:16:00 UTC

More wind.. More solar.. More nuclear..

2019-11-11 01:16:51 UTC

nuclear would be fine. if the fear mongering about chernobyl and fukushima

2019-11-11 01:16:58 UTC

would piss off

2019-11-11 01:17:41 UTC

Nuclear in our case is meh since we don't have the technical skills which means the French would own all our reactors

2019-11-11 01:17:45 UTC

nuclear power stations are so much safer than they have ever been

2019-11-11 01:18:16 UTC

its been 33 years since chernobyl

2019-11-11 01:18:41 UTC

a lot of safety features have been implemented since

2019-11-11 01:18:54 UTC

Meh, renewables are better

2019-11-11 01:19:00 UTC

Cheaper energy from them

2019-11-11 01:19:02 UTC

and it was the soviet union... a dying soviet union

2019-11-11 01:19:09 UTC

so... ye

2019-11-11 01:19:11 UTC

Less risk, lower costs

2019-11-11 01:29:40 UTC

fuck windmills

2019-11-11 01:29:54 UTC

theres a pretty good article on the spectator explaining how shitty they are

2019-11-11 01:31:55 UTC

Meh they're the cheapest source of energy and we can put them at sea

2019-11-11 02:03:19 UTC

Nuclear energy will work better.

2019-11-11 02:18:37 UTC
2019-11-11 02:18:50 UTC

There's no long-term storage for the used fuel.

2019-11-11 02:18:54 UTC

It's more expensive

2019-11-11 02:18:57 UTC

It's more dangerous

2019-11-11 02:19:08 UTC

We will need foreigners to design, build and operate them

2019-11-11 02:19:24 UTC

There's a higher impact if one reactor goes down

2019-11-11 02:19:26 UTC

You will never develop one unless you try.

2019-11-11 02:19:36 UTC

Windmills don't work if there's no wind.

2019-11-11 02:20:15 UTC

Which is why you have multiple farms around the country, in different locations

2019-11-11 02:20:19 UTC

To offset that problem

2019-11-11 02:20:37 UTC

Also, where will we be purchasing the nuclear fuel from? @Illyrian

2019-11-11 02:22:02 UTC

What if they're subject to for example a terror attack, or military strike?

2019-11-11 02:22:12 UTC

There's land we can't use for a few hundred years.

2019-11-11 02:31:16 UTC

I still don't think you get how situational windmills are.

2019-11-11 03:28:58 UTC

ye and the upkeep they need. especially in the ocean is immensely difficult and expensive. also they look god awful. theres complaints from residents in rural areas saying the landscape has been ruined by wind turbines

2019-11-11 06:17:16 UTC

not to mention the things only work if there is just the right amount of wind. to little and the blades won't turn. to much and they will rip themselves apart if the brakes are not engaged.

2019-11-11 08:10:20 UTC

You can have wind farms at sea. You just can't rely on them

2019-11-11 08:10:44 UTC

Putting solar on new houses is sensible.
Creating energy from incinerating waste locally is also an essential component

2019-11-11 08:10:54 UTC

Increased use of hydro in Wales and Scotland

2019-11-11 08:11:03 UTC

Massive forests + biowaste reactors for baseline

2019-11-11 08:43:09 UTC

The Lib Dems are talking about education and will promise every adult in England £10,000 to spend on education and training throughout their life.

2019-11-11 08:43:13 UTC

A step in the right direction
