They built new houses and more socially aware people moved in, upping the value and improving the area somewhat.

Before that it was an area you didn't go unless you wanted to be stabbed.

We need decent, dispersed, low density council housing in huge numbers across the country

Example of how that area was. My dad moved in and there was two bullet holes in the window. When he moved out after getting robbed, the house was turned into a brothel.

When my dad was burgled, they found a machete on his window ledge, and the bloke up the road came to speak to him. He said he knew who burgled him and would be able to prevent it in the future.
