The act of gaining knowledge from observation, studying natural phenomena, and analyzing it is the science

I mean more practical as in, what has changed in a city as a result of social scientists sharing their knowledge?

Stuff like how we've moved away from centralized city layouts

More than just building, they can design entire parts of cities

Urban planners deal with where they all are, how you get to them, the distances between them and different buildings

You see calling it a science is a stretch because it takes this long to come up with a somewhat disputed thing that they contribute

I'd call psychology a science before sociology

It's actually put into practice every day

What you are defining as science actually has a term, applied sciences

It's kind of like philosophy in a way then, and I wouldn't call it a science

Stuff like computer science, medicine, and engineering are called "applied science" and are often what most people uninvolved in STEM first think of when they hear "science," because it is tangible and relatively easy to understand how data on the field is collected and how it is used

I'm more of the idea that you can understand society more if you know more about the individual, psychology deals with that

And then of course you have the economic situation, religious aspect, I don't see where sociology really fits in

The two are inseparable, as man is shaped by society.

A large part of what man is depends on the society he's in

And religion is most certainly very social, see evangelism, ancient rabbinic society, islamism, jim jones
