Many foreign troops took this to their advantage and began looting homes, stealing heirlooms, murdering innocent people, and many took part in a very common crime that is often not discussed, rape. Although it is not possible to confirm the amount of rapes, it is estimated that roughly two million women were raped (just in Germany) by soldiers after the end of the Second World War. Out of the 2 million raped women, 100,000 of the them were raped in Berlin (“Rape During the Occupation of Germany”, 2018). Around 10,000 of the women violated in Berlin died as a result of the attack, most of them from suicide. While rape was committed by all allied powers, the violations done by the Soviet troops are considered the most severe. ```
