SQUAD is likely to have a very long life especially with modding involved

What is the main difference between ArmA 3 and SQUAD? Been looking at either buying Squad or getting the ArmA 3 cold war dlc.

Honestly I'd go for SQUAD if I were you. I own both, I've been a diehard fan of ARMA since Operation Flashpoint CWC 2001. But I'm not a fan of ARMA III.

There are major differences. ARMA is both SP and MP but it's clunky and getting the same combat fix that you can easily get in SQUAD is very difficult in ARMA especially in a multiplayer scenario

But in the end it is your choice. But if I were you I'd go for SQUAD. It goes on sale often by the way so keep an eye out if you want to get it then.

I didn't know that, thanks! Yeah, the one problem I had with ArmA 3 is that a lot of the singleplayer missions are super clunky, and you can easily fail the mission early on when a squad lead dies and everything breaks, but of course they never tell you that.

SQUAD also has its own problems though too. If you have a bad squad leader you may end up being slaughtered worse than the Russians at Stalingrad. Which is no fun but everyone has to lose at some point.

SQUAD heavily relies on players working together. The team that has the most teamworking squads wins the match usually. It's really fun when both teams are evenly matched in skill then it becomes a pitched battle to exhaustion for both sides.
