Boys
I was living on a reservation and the kids there didn't really get that much entertainment.
I bet they really appreciated your stories
Yeah.
I appreciated the audience
Until I was told I was not allowed to tell my stories by the guy who ran the place.
Honestly war is the best way to describe my story lol
Because the kids liked mine more than his
That’s awful, I’m sorry :/
He was jealous of a lot of people.
He was one of those bosses everything had to go his way and there was no room for adapting
is that way ebtter than shitty amazon?
Baen publishes actual books, and has been around for decades. If you go to an actual bookstore and check the fantasy and sci-fi sections, chances are half were published by Baen. Also, they pay you, not the other way around. LOL
Wait....
you mean
I have to PAY AMAZON?!
Fuck I didn't know that
definitely not using them dumbasses now
LOl I have no idea. I've never dealt with Amazon.
Guess I gotta come up with some good short stories
But a lot of "publishing houses" charge you for the printing, then you have to find people to buy your copies.
dam
makes sense
I wrote a roleplaying game system. I have the core rules, a playable module, and the first three expansion books for it, ready to publish, in printable format.
damn
I mean, the competition for RPG is gonna be tuft considering Dungeons and Dragons exist
Every company I shopped it to declined, because they want people to write *their* stuff, not new systems. So I looked into self-publishing it.
that kinda makes sense, no? charging for printing the books, even if they aren't successful
it's a gamble for them
yup
Not really; there are at least thirty successful game systems on the market.
I only know of DD, I've never heard of 29 others, name 3
Rifts, Gurps, West End Games Star Wars, World of Darkness, Fusion, Vampire; The Masquerade...
DAMN
ok
u win
As far as charging you to print, an actual publishing house will either forego the cost, or charge the first run out of your profits.
I never thought about writing an Tabletop RPG, but uhm...with Warcraft making their own, between that and those other 30 ones, It's gonna get heavily competitive, so Imma pass.
I'll have to find something else to write.
But as for my game, to self-publish, it would have run me around $15,000 per thousand copies, paperback format, black and white.
...Then I would have had to find people to sell them, or schlep them myself.
doesn't look like Amazon charges you, but I only receive about on average 60% of the actual profits, if even that. But because they have Ebooks, there's no printing, so I can publish it for free, and at least get a start up on it.
Think I'll start it up there, and once I get a good jumpstart, sell the new stuff elsewhere, as well as hard copies
