Well then just use Linux?!
You don't need an extra vpn for tor. Just use the build in Layer.
I use brave after that whole censorship stuff and statement from Firefox
Using Nord it is actually pretty good. You can use TOR features without tor like using onion links ab being harder to track with the Onion VPN option built in.
WTF kind of BS list puts firefox above TOR for privacy? TOR is literally firefox but reconfigured to MAXIMUM privacy! I would NOT trust that list.
I guess it's due to using Tor makes you suspicious according to some
And firefox is basically Brave kinda
no... not at all
In terms of privacy, yes, in terms of anything else no
They are completely different browsers
And neither brave nor firefox are that good for privacy, better than opera or chrome absolutely, but Pale Moon (Privacy firefox) Or ungoogled chromium (Privacy chrome) are far better
but if you arent paranoid it doesnt really matter
As long as you dont use opera because its literally owned by the chinese XD
I heard lol. Thanks for the two browsers.
np, ungoogled chromium can be a PITA to find sometimes, heres the link for it
you'd want the Windows 64ibit installer
Opera's data is still being handled through Norway, with EU laws. The Chinese corporation is not directly involved with their actual operations
How am i supposed to trust that? its a chinese corporation, of course they would say that!
In any case using a browser thats open source like ungoogled chromium or pale moon is a much better bet for privacy
Do you know if Pale Moon has support for regular Firefox extensions?
I dunno, maybe legal filings within Norway and the EU
Which specific extensions? It is based on pre-quantum firefox
ooooo ok. NoScript, AdBlock/uOrigin mostly. They have pre-quantum versions out there I assume
uBlock origin just go to their girthub releases and use firefox-legacy
palemoon doesnt like noscript and blocks it by default, but theres a guide to get it in there
Thanks for the info my dude
heres the guide on making it as secure as possible
Dont be using tor while connected to a VPN. Quickest way to deanon yourself besides logging into your email while using TOR.
Connect to a VPN then open a TOR browser and go to whatsmyIP. Scary how it knows you are connected to a VPN AND TOR huh?
On the technical side, what's the problem with using a VPN with tor?
Why does it matter if people know you're using vpn/tor? Knowing that someone is hiding their identity doesn't tell you anything about their identity
I tripped over this issue a few years back. I just got my first VPN service and thought I was invisible online. I figured, what the hell, I'll go dink around on the dark web for a bit. In the midst of surfing the high seas of the world wide web, I decided to see how invisible I really was. So I made sure I was connected to my VPN, double checked DNS leaks, and opened TOR. Went to whatsmyIP and almost shit myself. How did my proxy IP get leaked? It showed my proxy IP as well as the entry node and exit node. Didn't show my origin IP. Apparently IPv6 was, and still is, the issue with TOR. https://www.americanpeacenik.com/the-state-of-ipv6-support-on-the-tor-network/
TOR is an older network, designed decades ago. in 2021 only half the network is configured for IPv6.
If you want to remain absolutely anonymous, use TOR and only TOR. Don't login to personal accounts. Don't use google. And don't have multiple browsers open at the same time
And never use an HTTP protocol. HTTPS only.
Infact, take it a step further, buy a 64GB thumb drive and download TAILS OS.
VPNs are great for things like The Pirate Bay, Public Wifi, and mediocre encryption (Lets face it, the five eyes has master keys).
I use a VPN daily, and TOR when I want to know what is really going on in the world
