You mean the Catholic spanish church, hunting down any of the other churches they deemed unworthy?
The question is how are we saved faith or works, not whether or not you should do good works. verse 10 of Ephesians 2 says we are Gods workmanship and created for good works.
Yes
"For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them."
Killing people is not wrong if the people being killed are evildoers
What about Mercy
Can they not change?
Jesus did not simply kill the Pharisees
They could, possibly, but they still deserve punishment
Punishment, not always death
Thats not the issue. Everyone can change. But these are people who hold to those beleifs.
Protestants and Jews were the main target during the Spanish inquisition.
"Vengence is mine alone, says the lord"
But throughout the Bible God commands the Israelites to kill evildoers
We are not to kill because they are deserving
Justice and vengeance are two very different things
I'm just trying to say that killing can be wrong and can be right in some instances
I’m not saying go around killing people
That is actually a very fair argument.
But I do believe that murderers should be executed
God commanded the Israelites to kill in justice countless times through the Bible
The more extreme ones
Or in a situation of protecting someone.
Ones that killed a lot
That is the civil authorities job.
How can murderers be more or less extreme? They’re still murderers
Didn’t say it wasn’t
There is a LOT of debate on ascribed vs prescribed commands in the bible.
You can kill one person or you can kill multiple people for a specific reason
It’s still murder
Some people will only kill once because someone drove them to far and will not kill again. Others will kill and enjoy it, and will kill again. There is a difference there.
The 5th commandment is talking about murder. War and just execution are not bound by the 5th commandment
No difference. Both took a life
Yes there is.
I believe NoMercys original argument was against what happened during the inquisition though.
Let me pose to you two examples Paul
Well yes that was unbiblical
Also I love how your name is “no mercy” and you’re advocating for mercy
Mercy from justice that is
God gives us mercy from his just wrath
