2019-09-30 15:58:01 UTC

Well when you're learning to draw the bow it's pretty hard

2019-09-30 15:58:10 UTC

The string is a lot tougher than it looks

2019-09-30 15:58:13 UTC

2019-09-30 15:58:22 UTC

2019-09-30 15:58:31 UTC

kek

2019-09-30 15:58:40 UTC

mongol bows were pretty low poundage weren't they?

2019-09-30 15:58:43 UTC

but that might be because I also trained back and triceps that day <:GWcorbinTopKek:384871333705678868>

2019-09-30 15:58:44 UTC

so I dunno

2019-09-30 15:58:50 UTC

english longbowmen would have been ripped though

2019-09-30 15:58:59 UTC

i wanna say 60 pound

2019-09-30 15:59:03 UTC

@gary underwood gotta prepare for the rape somehow <:kek:590371888480387073>

2019-09-30 15:59:12 UTC

OwO

2019-09-30 16:00:28 UTC

@gary underwood imo they were prolly pretty light, because lightly armoured adversaries, needing to use it on a horse, etc.

2019-09-30 16:00:56 UTC

english peasants were required to train archery every sunday after church so when they get old enough they can shoot a longbow in battle

2019-09-30 16:01:05 UTC

srs?

2019-09-30 16:01:14 UTC

that's pretty badass if true

2019-09-30 16:01:48 UTC

That's dank af

2019-09-30 16:02:42 UTC

Mandatory archery

2019-09-30 16:02:53 UTC

That's how they got to be so based

2019-09-30 16:02:56 UTC

<:pepehands:378719408367075333>

2019-09-30 16:03:37 UTC

when civVI doesnt have longbowmen as english special units anymore <:pepehands:378719408367075333>

2019-09-30 16:05:22 UTC

i tried looking into the mongol bows but i got conflicting results, most of what i saw was over 100 lb, and some as high as 180 lb. but i didnt do enough research to confirm

2019-09-30 16:14:27 UTC

@gary underwood It was actually more like 70lbs

2019-09-30 16:14:51 UTC

Those numbers came from people ignoring that the materials degraded over centuries of not being used

2019-09-30 16:15:13 UTC

i saw one thing that said they carried two bows, and one was stronger

2019-09-30 16:15:51 UTC

180lb would make them nearly twice as strong as english archers

2019-09-30 16:15:55 UTC

seems unlikely

2019-09-30 16:16:08 UTC

chinks not exactly big guys

2019-09-30 16:16:15 UTC

if those numbers came from degraded materials then why would they be less? i dont get it

2019-09-30 16:17:00 UTC

past a certain point dont recurv bows become easier to hold?

2019-09-30 16:17:50 UTC

we need to ban the competition so only communism can win

2019-09-30 16:17:50 UTC

tony fucking blair
