idk, when i look at him, and hear his speech, either he is really, really dumb and is parroting everything people tell him to say

2018-03-27 23:36:57 UTC

or he is a sociopath who is enjoying this whole shit

2018-03-27 23:37:25 UTC

the thing with California types is they're easily deluded by their own importance

2018-03-27 23:37:29 UTC

everything is a cause

2018-03-27 23:38:14 UTC

he is stupid though, gun control is a retarded thing to make your single voting issue, which is what he said in his speech

2018-03-27 23:39:01 UTC

California and NY have stricter gun laws than Canada. Their problem is deeper, and involve psychiatric drugs and the psychology of the young male population

2018-03-27 23:39:10 UTC

yeah, being an "activist" is a fast and easy way to get recognition, makes people feel like they are more important than they really are.

2018-03-27 23:39:49 UTC

@obrallaghan
Look, the fact that this happens so often on USA and not everywhere else shows that the problem is not exactly guns

2018-03-27 23:40:11 UTC

and instead of trying to find out what's causing the problem

2018-03-27 23:40:33 UTC

they want to ban the object the person used to commit the crime

2018-03-27 23:40:38 UTC

it happens in other parts of the world. South America has the worst gun violence metrics in the world

2018-03-27 23:40:55 UTC

I'm talking about mass shootings

2018-03-27 23:40:56 UTC

and I hate to point this out, but if you look at the white population of the US they are in line with everyone else

2018-03-27 23:41:02 UTC

not gun violence

2018-03-27 23:42:03 UTC

I think the whole thing is just underhandedly racist in that it fails to address the issue

2018-03-27 23:42:14 UTC

wtf are you talking about?

2018-03-27 23:42:48 UTC

there's more deaths from black on black violence from guns than school shootings, but we fixate on school shootings because it's mostly white people doing them

2018-03-27 23:42:52 UTC

dude

2018-03-27 23:42:56 UTC

i'm talking about mass shootings

2018-03-27 23:43:09 UTC

I know, but Hogg is talking about all of gun violence

2018-03-27 23:43:13 UTC

i don't care about this race stuff

2018-03-27 23:43:20 UTC

that whole event was about gun violence generally in the US

2018-03-27 23:43:22 UTC

not just school shootings

2018-03-27 23:43:24 UTC

this is useless for the point i was trying to make

2018-03-27 23:45:42 UTC

i think the problem is alienation and things along along those lines, then someone did a shooting and the media highlighted them for weeks, and kept doing it over and over. Now the same kinds of people are thinking "hey that looks like a good way to make a statement and get back at everyone who i hate". the media romanticized it, and it became common. And now it's considered a "gun problem"

2018-03-27 23:46:31 UTC

I'm not 100% but I believe nearly all youth mass shooters in the last couple decades have either been on psyciatric medication or prescribed them

2018-03-27 23:46:59 UTC

i wouldn't be surprised

2018-03-27 23:47:07 UTC

i'm sure that has something to do with it

2018-03-27 23:47:19 UTC

I told my best friend that I don't believe he should have the right to own his guns because he is on pills

2018-03-27 23:47:27 UTC

he shouldn't tbh

2018-03-27 23:47:36 UTC

@Deleted User
it probably does

2018-03-27 23:48:17 UTC

and that's what i was saying before.

When they start to blame guns for it, they lose the opportunity to find out or at least even talk about what might be causing it

2018-03-27 23:48:55 UTC

It’s because they, as in the politicians who support these kids, don’t actually care

2018-03-27 23:49:03 UTC

They just see them as more votes.

2018-03-27 23:49:20 UTC

I believe there are two separate issues facing youth populations that may in the end be related, but they are unique to class and race. I think it overwhelmingly has to do with a lack of father figure and/or sense of belonging

2018-03-27 23:49:36 UTC

agreed

2018-03-27 23:49:57 UTC

i guess it's more complicated than that

2018-03-27 23:50:08 UTC

lack of family structure and community

2018-03-27 23:50:13 UTC

in the most general sense I believe it is a masculinity issue

2018-03-27 23:50:34 UTC

then we can look at mass shooters vs "street violence"

2018-03-27 23:50:37 UTC

kids arent mature enough to navigate life on there own
