I still don't get what @Deleted User is trying to accomplish. It's like they don't actually fully understand their own position whatsoever.
Just saying if you wanted to worship a higher power, there's one you can see and feel.
if i were to ever lower my standard for what is true to the point where i believed the bible again i would be forced to accept the claims of many religions
@Fitzydog hooty is a troll
well except islam that story and history is laughable.
It was all a conspiracy. All the manuscripts, the 1st century churches built by the apostles, their public torture and executions, the documented orders to desecrate their tombs by the invading Muslim armies. All a massive conspiracy, that's the non-foolish explanation.
@flyingfoxel The problem, is that you're taking the bible literally
thats the best part im not.
So what about Paul?
ill go over the insane years of twisting my beliefs untill i couldn't hold them if you want in vc but, i dont have th time nor skill to type it out.
i have all the historical fact to prove most of the bible has the same historically losses of meaning that the Muslims had in the 30-100 years after the death of the patriarch.
but even if parts are true it wont ever make up for the losses in the 13centiry and in the 4th
@flyingfoxel The Old testement is nothing more than a collection of books that people in the past thought were really important. The New Testament is about resolving an ongoing civil war in Judaism, and prostelizing Hellesntic Judaism to the Greeks and Romans, with a focal point on Jesus as a superhero who was executed unjustly.
The important part is that its IMPORTANT
yes with his divinity added in after the fact
It all starts with the first prophet, Zarathustra which everyone seems to ignore.
It has sticking power,
You know how *new* of a concept the idea of 'unjust killing' was at that time?
yes but how can it effect my life today beyond interacting with it's believers
Except for the Greeks, it was pretty damn progressive
"People always had the same moral values as us now, in the west."
HERE O ISRAEL
jews had the concept 200 years before christ and the antient celts also had the concept
OUR LORD THY GOD IS AHAD
ONE
The OG Jesus
@flyingfoxel Thus the civil war
Go shave your pubes.
lol
i have no pubes
side effect of rogain >.> oddly enough
Was Jesus an actual person, and did he perform miracles?
The question should be, does it matter?
I think maybe he was really Cyrus the Great
oh it does, but beyond if that matter what matters what now, is can the truth of the matter effect me today.
This is where we get the first form of human rights from by the way
@flyingfoxel It doesn't matter to me if he was a real guy. I'm more concerned about the lasting impact of the Christian tradition across the west for the last 2000 years
Many of these questions are answered in the book "The Age of Reason" by Thomas Paine. I think everyone here would benefit if they read it
@Fitzydog then your just as much of an athiest i am
The Cyrus cylinder
