Reportedly it's because they actually want the kid to die because
1) the kid is braindead
2) the kid should not be allowed to live because he is suffering pain
Which... is an interesting combination
I legitimately do not believe they are just doing this with no justification, SOMEONE in the government would have said "hey, have we made a press release or something explaining our position?"
I get their argument about it not being cost efficient to spend state money on a lost cause, but the second one isn't something that governments usually give a shit about
```O’Sullivan, who is British, points out that in the UK, The NHS and the UK courts have declared that his is a life unworthy of life.```
Like, that's not their territory
I thought euthanasia was illegal, but there y'go
```Before the removal of the ventilator people began praying for Alfie to breathe on his own.
The physicians said he would suffocate in 15 minutes. He lasted 12 hours. At which point, the physician at Alder Hey were forced to restore ventilation and hydration.```
Statists are probably going to dismiss people who want to keep Alfie alive as religious kooks
And there certainly are plenty of people doing the whole 'it's a miracle' thing
But that's irrelevant anyway
Because the parents *should be allowed to take their kid elsewhere for treatment by another facility that is willing to provide it*
They're doing the complete *opposite* of child abuse and the state is still intervening
Yeah, that's the point where they objectively have no legal right to intervene
If they were serious about their argument that its not cost effective to keep him alive, have the parents reimburse the government. That'd be shitty, but still less inconsistent and absurd than what they're doing now
"kill the boy"
<:high_iq:382980759012638731>
The only arguments I'm seeing are that the kid is already dead because he's in a "semi-vegatative state"
But I don't see how this stacks up with "do not allow the parents to take their own child out of the hospital"
Yeah, all the arguments they're making are inconsistent and have completely changed over time
Its too stupid in too many ways to be explained solely by bureaucracy
That's literally the case
Ok, it's not a good sign when one of the first google results for the hospital he's at is an organ theft scandal just under 20 years ago that was so bad laws were rewritten
```"We want to kill you. It's in your best interest."```
```"Your child is dead and you want us to pump blood through its corpse."```
```"Your child is dead, we know best; I know we were wrong about the whole unable-to-breathe thing, but trust us on the rest; also we know you've raised over £130,000 for the private treatment of your son and an entirely different nation has offered to help but we won't let you take your child anywhere else anyway and it's not because we'd look fucking terrible if any scenario other than the immediate cessation of all vital organs of your child occurred, especially after all the taxpayer money we've spent in lawyers' fees"```
Organ theft from infants, no less
Refrencing that, btw
Oof
How wide is the crack in your ass? @Reaps
The whole thing's busted, need to replace it
Shitposting in VC, @Deleted User
"We should take this baby off of life support because he's suffering whilst on life support"
"yes, we should try asphyxiation and starving him to death, good idea"
That's just euthanizing him without euthanization juice
@Fulcrum010 who’s that guy?
