I don't think the Bible's transcription errors are as egregious.
As the original's in Greek.
The Bible had been thoroughly analysed to find exactly where and when things changed.
The bible had more emphasis on translation efforts, with multiple parties working on it. Greek isn't that different today than back then
There's some translation issues with idioms and such but nothing big.
The thing is, how many times do you think it has been changed since the first time it was written?
Yeah.
The main message seems to be in there
It's like if you're Icelandic you can read the Eddas verbatim.
Which books are canon and which aren’t?
We found the Dead Sea Scrolls, and those are pretty close to modern day
So, book technology removed the human factor in reviewing the reproduction's correctness.
You know what the problem is with Islam?
Most Muslims can't read Arabic.
lol
The orthodox, Catholics and Protestants all have different canons
They're just told by their Imams what is contained in the book.
Lol
I would have said pedophilia
And what those Imams preach isn't necessarily in the book.
The whole Principle of Abrogation makes a lot of things wonky.
@stillgray so basically they’re Catholics pre reformation ?
The book contradicts itself numerous times, but you're supposed to go with the latter contradiction.
Yeah
Imagine if Christians could only read the Bible if they knew Latin.
That's the problem Muslims have.
I guess, muslims are so focused in recording the book, that they take the time to analyze it and interpret it
And the Quran itself tells you nothing about which verses came later.
It's a literacy issue.
> Imagine if Christians could only read the Bible if they knew Latin
So yeah, before Luther translated the thing into German
In some countries, Muslims learn Arabic literacy.
Those countries, surprise surprise, produce far fewer jihadists.
I'm more concerned about what happened prior to the 600s AD
Because they actually know how to read the Hadiths and all the supplementary material.
Hmmm makes you wonder
The stuff moderate Muslims in the 12th century came up with.
The stuff that says "yeah, don't kill people."
@stillgray
oks, they produce less jihadist, but how many ultra conservative muslims they create?
Meanwhile Salafists just ignore all of that stuff and go straight to the bloodshed.
Fewer.
