But anyway, sometimes a small transcription error can have big implications.
@DanielKO
i guess the biggest problems is how the story changes with the time
Like that thing with the 26 different Qurans, all with enough differences to have theological implications.
it's one of the reasons why i don't exactly trust the bible
Hmmm
I don't think the Bible's transcription errors are as egregious.
As the original's in Greek.
The Bible had been thoroughly analysed to find exactly where and when things changed.
The bible had more emphasis on translation efforts, with multiple parties working on it. Greek isn't that different today than back then
There's some translation issues with idioms and such but nothing big.
Yeah.
The main message seems to be in there
It's like if you're Icelandic you can read the Eddas verbatim.
Which books are canon and which aren’t?
We found the Dead Sea Scrolls, and those are pretty close to modern day
So, book technology removed the human factor in reviewing the reproduction's correctness.
You know what the problem is with Islam?
Most Muslims can't read Arabic.
lol
The orthodox, Catholics and Protestants all have different canons
They're just told by their Imams what is contained in the book.
Lol
I would have said pedophilia
And what those Imams preach isn't necessarily in the book.
(not that the book is any good, mind you)
The whole Principle of Abrogation makes a lot of things wonky.
@stillgray so basically they’re Catholics pre reformation ?
The book contradicts itself numerous times, but you're supposed to go with the latter contradiction.
Yeah
Imagine if Christians could only read the Bible if they knew Latin.
