They can still be faceless like the regular old stormtroopers, but why they gotta look like the snowtroopers from episode V?
The crux of this debate is about Snokes motivation and desires. Gee it would sure be great if we knew a little bit more about that.
Nope, that would be good storytelling. Can't have that.
Yeah. They spend so much time building him up, and then they just kill him for a cheap twist
I'm betting it was originally supposed to be an ice planet, then they decided that was too much Hoth.
Shit we don’t even know how the empire is evil
Well, they blow planets up and murder hella civillians
But before that
And if those planets were enemy planets waging active guerrilla war
The whole planet of Alderaan wasn't doing that, just their princess
Why'd they deserve to get nuked?
But they took half the movie to explain how evil the empire was
Usually the get you emotionally invested from the start
Which movie?
IV
But here's another question that TLJ brought up. Why bother with death Stars?
Oh they fucked up TLJ
just light speed into everything
Yep
Even though objects shift to a different plane of space when traveling through hyperspace, effectively ceasing to exist until they pop back out
It's cheper, harder to stop, hits like the first of an angry god, and you have more control of the destructive force.
Otherwise you could run into a small space rock in hyperspace and instantly atomize
The problem with the original trilogy: the rolling reading intro takes away all elements of initial story building.
Indeed. But if you ask that question you will be shouted down with "NERD! Thermian argument! It isn't real!"
It gets you up to speed so they can begin with an action scene and you know who the relevant players are
But you shouldn’t need to be brought up to speed
It's also an homage to the Flash Gordon serials
And being brought up to speed is better portrayed by letting the audience visually learn it, not telling them
I know, it just irks me that people don’t realize that
Star Wars V is best Star Wars though
At any rate, it's baked into the formula, so good luck getting rid of it.
Rogue One
And yes, Star Wars V is best
Rogue One was trash
I enjoyed it
Still better than TLJ though
I hate that it was named rogue one though
If you name a movie rogue one it better be about an x wing squadron dogfighting
That's what I first thought of when I heard the name
I was disappointed from that aspect
But it had a good, if not cluttered story, it was enjoyable, the characters were relatable, etc
