it was just too close to Russia for the allies to afford kicking that particular hornet's nest
case in point, the allies helped Greece stave of a communist revolution. It wasn't as if the allies wouldn't have prefered Poland to not be communist, it was the feasibility of trying to keep Poland away from the imperial ambitions of the Soviets that was the issue.
