Seattle is gross
Even if it’s only 25% white, it isn’t atomized. You do belong to a block of people, at least, even if you are under black rule.
Having a bunch of blacks sounds nice compared to having people from here and there
@Grayson I couldn’t believe what downtown Salt Lake became. I have a place in Holladay I keep for skiing. Even there on the outskirts it has gotten a bit rough
Yeah. It’s not great, obviously, but I really prefer it to something like New York.
The less different groups, the more of a social life there is
I have learned how to deal with African Americans. Random Somalis and Bengalis not so much.
what a chad
Splash mountain is the last stand of implicit white identity
People who are pressing X to doubt, have you ever experiences true diversity? Like, there's one guy from Vietnam, one guy from Samoa, one guy from Nigeria, etc.
UW is genuinely depressing
I’ll add that this city is incredibly ethnically segregated. Two black people out of maybe 30 live in my apartment building and I’m in a 3/4 black city.
Would seriously take this over New York any day.
oh ya that's another good point; you have to learn to deal with each group
@Ace92- VA hey welcome to NoVA (Northern VA)! You definitely should join our regional slack. I have a few ideas on places to live. George Mason University is in Fairfax so there should be very affordable housing all around in Fairfax proper
@Alexander Pechorin oh yeah it’s gotten bad in the last few years!!! I couldn’t stand it anymore! Now I have neighbors who wave the confederate flag 😂 you have a place in Holladay ????
Learned to conduct yourself in a dichotomy is significantly easier than learning how to live in a melange of whatever.
@Grayson I do! Just an apartment I keep for access to the slopes in the winter
In a dichotomy, you still belong to something. In Seattle, everyone belongs to an atomized, cultureless market segmentation.
@Grayson Unfortunately Tennessee is demanding I go there so I won’t get to spend much time in UT. What a great place though.
Tennessee is pretty good fam
Eastern Tennessee is beautiful
Memphis is hell but you know.
It’s best place in the country for shipping. Easy access everywhere
Yes....
I’ve loved some of the areas around Nashville — Brentwood, Franklin, Hendersonville. All very white and a much higher quality of life than most
Amazon is building a fulfillment center near Spokane. I hate what they do as a corporation but I'm excited for the faster shipping.
@Alexander Pechorin ping me or dm me once you get get full member status, I'll get you into the VA regional server.
We’ve had a bunch of former Amazon employees apply for jobs. They all hated it.
but not before 👀
I’m sure their work culture is terrible
I’ve heard the pay is bad and they’re treated pretty poorly too
Nova is getting Amazon HQ2!
@Jacob I live in a 65% black area and I can assure you there’s absolutely nothing good about diversity
Yeah, it’s bad dude, but I really think it’s easier to hack than living around people for 20090999 different countries.
I also lived in Houston TX which is the most diverse city in the US and it’s a shithole in the public sphere. Only good coming from it is commercialism and oil money from saudis
@Alexander Pechorin That's what I told my mom. She thinks it's really cool if I work for Amazon some day.
After all, a white/black split is less diverse than whatever manhattan is.
@Gumbo - AZ That's *less* diverse than the alternative I'm describing
