Also, why tiki
@Ald yeah it was anachronistic because it reminded people of burning crosses
A torchlight rally I could imagine at an unannounced rally in great numbers following a victory
I recently learned that cross burning in the US was never done as intimidation but was essentially only done at private parties.
Lynchings were generally done to rapists and murderers, and were very rare anyway
Crosses weren’t burned on blacks’ lawns? @missliterallywho
White people never enslaved anyone, we just bought existing slaves who would have continued to be slaves anyway
I was aware the Klans traditions came from Scotland
The average slave was better nourished and worked less than the average white
@VinceChaos nope, that's a Hollywood invention
The colonists did kidnap and enslave the Irish which meant they were cheaper than blacks and treated worse often
Whites were also lynched
For crimes
Irish were indentured servants, I'm unsure if they were ever in chattel slavery like Africans
The amount of Africans captured was minuscule yeah
Blacks had lower unemployment under segregation, and the biggest drop in the black white income gap happened during segregation
But some Irish Americans like to say we wuz negroes too
@Ald coulda sworn they captured even if they meant not forever
Descendants of black slaves are economically far better off than Africans
White people dindu nuffin
Yeah there was a lot of vigilante justice and little due process but it was for real reasons and happened to both whites and blacks. Blacks more simply bc they committed more crimes!
Segregation was good for blacks, not that that's our concern
but it was good for us too 😉
The "right to be around Whites" talking point is a good one to push cause it's so true
A burning cross was the original Paul Revere's midnight ride
That's what a lot of it boils down to
Horowitz gets it right there 👆
It's like a clingy dysfunctional girlfriend who says you're being abusive by wanting to break up
Any source on dispelling myth of intimidating cross burnings? @missliterallywho I’m at work or else I’d look it up myself
Also iirc yeah Whites were also lynched, might have been the majority of lynchings, sometimes for being Catholic immigrants
I'm thinking of a particular case of German lynchings
Idk how common that was though
I am listening to radio renaissance at work tho very stealthily with great headphones lol
@VinceChaos I heard it from Mike Enoch, haven't looked it up myself
The other important thing to clarify about the KKK is that they did not have a sense of White identity like we do, it was specifically an Anglo-American Protestant group
Its most redeemable framing is as a volunteer police force to deal with excess crime from freed blacks, but really, comparing us to the KKK makes hardly to no sense
Oh I never would either
Yeah I'm saying it shows historical illiteracy in libs who do so
I'm not going to renew TRS subscription, it all seems to just be shitposting now. The other guys don't let Mike finish a thought, and Jazzhands seems high on ranting and low on statistics nowadays.
