Ok so I will address it as best I can after reading through all that
1) It is not clear to me if Flynn knew by pleading guilty they would not prosecute his son. It is 100% inappropriate for a prosecutor to attempt to get a Defendant to plead guilty (even if they really are guilty) by suggesting if they don't plead a family member will get charged. - So again, not certain that Flynn was put in that position directly but if he was then his plea should have been thrown out and gone to trial.

2) No one really seems to be disputing that Flynn gave false answers to the FBI in the interview. Even Barr seems clear that he did "lie". But the Barr's Justice Department position has changed and is now stating that Flynn was not in danger of being compromised by the Russians and as such he shouldn't of been charged.
* I absolutely disagree here. I understand that Team Trump (of which Bill Barr is Captain) wants to make ties to Russia a hoax, its simply not. The ties are there, the ties are many and for Trump the ties go back decades.

3) The hand written notes that were disclosed. I had forgotten about those but I do recall reading it back when it happened. They can be read in a way to make it look very bad to the prosecutors/FBI - I agree. BUT, they can also be read in a way that favors them as it appears the final "decision" was not to play any games and do it by the book.

So - this is what it sounds like on that issue - They seem to know that Flynn is about to lie to them regarding his Russian contacts (or that he has lied to them in the past and they are not trying to get that lie on the record). So like with any type investigation they make a plan, decide the goal and how best to reach that goal.
I would hope that getting to the Truth is always the goal. But in this situation there were National security implications. So if they just get him to admit the truth they might then lose out on the ability to charge him criminally or get him out of a position of power. Why is it important to get him out of that position ? - Well, we don't want our National Security Director primed to be compromised by Russians - so I do not have any trouble with them having this conversation about how to proceed giving the importance of the matter - And the fact they decide to not play games seals the deal for me. I think that part was fine.

An immaterial recollection error is not the same thing as “lying to the FBI”, and the evidence supports the former. There was no underlying crime, so their whole prosecution turned on treating an immaterial misstatement as a crime itself. That’s one hell of a stretch that “no reasonable prosecutor” would pursue.
