A thousand years of warring isn’t exactly what I’d call peaceful
There are times I wish that America was founded by Germans instead of Anglos, I think we would have a more cohesive identity and less libertarian nonsense, embedded deeply in the soul of the nation.
citation: the fact america functioned with plenty of European migration
@Kingfish family's fight
I think the greater Europeanist concept is kind of a meme
Is there any evidence that European immigrants assimilated well?
@V.Balboa - PA same here
Liberals like to bring up that point, but is it actually true?
The American nation pre-1980 or so is a good example.
Italian and Irish weren’t welcomed with open arms lmao
yeah it looks like its going to be a great time
"But what you're saying is the same thing they said about the Irish and Italians and that ended fine"
*Did* it end fine?
More conventionally and despite it's neo-liberal and self destructive core, EU proves the ability for mutual cooperation. (It sucks but it's better than nearly all attempts historically)
@Jacob liberals bring up that point with you? When they say we're a nation of immigrants in my experience, it's always not talking into account they're all white immigrants.
I've definitely heard that quote
That’s more Europe being ruled over by international elites and not a collaboration of national states working together
An EU in concept isn't bad at all, it's current shepherds just hate us lol.
@Jacob I mean overall yeah it turned out okay. Italian American culture is a very unique and rich one which I personally really like. Same with Irish American. They’ll never quite be one or the other though

Sean Last admittedly has some pretty bad takes sometimes, but this is an interesting article
@Jacob naturally, different culture will clash. However the response to the aforementioned liberal argument that “Italians an Irish assimilated, why not everyone else?” Is that because they were white
@⚡Clark⚡ I'm not so much discussing how to respond to the argument, I'm more discussion the fact the premise is wrong in the first place
I think the premise is quite accurate. Italians, Irish, and similar immigrant groups are very much so assimilated
to the anglo culture or to what
To mid-to late 20th century consumerist culture that has since dominated America
yikes
I want to say American culture, because even American Anglo culture is not exactly "Anglo". It's American.
