If he burned someone else's flag, that's arson. I don't think it should be a hate crime, though. Also, I'm genuinely surprised that a church that's willing to twist Scripture to fit liberal ideas on sexuality would express any sympathy for the attacker, because my experience with liberal "Christians" is that they're completely libtarded and cheer whenever alt-right people get glitterbombed and punched (even though their sky daddy supposedly said to turn the other cheek).
