> Well in the bible, Saints is anyone who has a living relationship with God through his mercy and grace expressed in the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. @MKSmash
@DeButcher a saint has to be dead. Where did you find/learn this?

2020-11-08 22:51:10 UTC

Where in the bible does it say the saint has to be dead? @MKSmash

2020-11-08 22:52:27 UTC

It doesn't
Not much is said about saints in the bible, and the rules for establishing saints were developed over time

2020-11-08 23:03:31 UTC

So my bishop closed down all the churches in the diocese because there has been a “spike” in COVID cases. Even though it is only in the big city of our diocese and not in the rest of the counties in our diocese

> It doesn't
> Not much is said about saints in the bible, and the rules for establishing saints were developed over time
@MKSmash
Who established it?

2020-11-08 23:37:41 UTC

What do you mean?
Who established the rules for sainthood?

2020-11-08 23:52:17 UTC

Yeah

2020-11-08 23:53:56 UTC

Dont understand why the Catholic add things to Christianity.

2020-11-08 23:55:10 UTC

Catholicism didn't add to Christianity, christianity added to Catholicism 😂

2020-11-08 23:55:45 UTC

I don't know who did the rules, I just know official canonizations began in the 10th century

2020-11-08 23:58:37 UTC

I meant add things in the religion

2020-11-09 00:02:54 UTC

What did they add

2020-11-09 00:05:11 UTC

> It doesn't
> Not much is said about saints in the bible, and the rules for establishing saints were developed over time
@MKSmash

2020-11-09 00:06:18 UTC

Oh now I see what you mean
Idk
I guess to honor holy people that have helped the church

2020-11-09 00:06:29 UTC

What's the problem with adding a system to honor then

2020-11-09 00:08:40 UTC

What's the problem with adding a system to honor then

2020-11-09 00:08:50 UTC

Nothing wrong to respecting saints. But yall tend to glorify these people

2020-11-09 00:09:05 UTC

After all they are just humans

2020-11-09 00:10:36 UTC

Sure
But humans are pretty important things

2020-11-09 00:12:10 UTC

Eh no, only God is important

2020-11-09 00:14:04 UTC

Well
We're created in the image and likeness of God
We are his most important creation, made for glorifying him

2020-11-09 00:14:21 UTC

And earlier you talked about praying to saints. Just a heads they cant do anything to help your cause.

2020-11-09 00:15:01 UTC

Read about Rich man and Lazarus

2020-11-09 00:15:06 UTC

They can do just as much as my best friend or brother can

2020-11-09 00:15:22 UTC

We can just appeal to God

2020-11-09 00:16:09 UTC

Only people that living atm

2020-11-09 00:16:44 UTC

Nope, they still can even though they are physically dead

2020-11-09 00:17:04 UTC

Proof from the bible?

2020-11-09 00:17:58 UTC

Like I said, very little about Saints in the Bible
This is something Tradition has to handle

2020-11-09 00:19:35 UTC

Tradition? Your statement is powerful. Saying tradition is not a good source. If its not in the bible then dont include it.

2020-11-09 00:19:48 UTC

Bible is important than tradition

2020-11-09 00:20:53 UTC

Sure, but we need tradition to interpret the Bible. This is the most stark difference between Protestant and Catholic: we give more credence to tradition.

2020-11-09 00:21:33 UTC

It also doesn't say abortion is wrong in the Bible, but we know that to still be wrong

2020-11-09 00:21:55 UTC

What the difference between Catholic and Jews during Jesus time then?

2020-11-09 00:22:12 UTC

Both hold major importance to tradition

2020-11-09 00:22:53 UTC

Jesus came to destroy Jewish tradition and insteas told to focus on the relationship with God.

2020-11-09 00:23:11 UTC

So Bible is more important than tradition

2020-11-09 00:23:21 UTC

> What the difference between Catholic and Jews during Jesus time then?
@DeButcher Not much
The Apostles still considered themselves Jews, and just followed Jesus' teaching

2020-11-09 00:24:16 UTC

Wait so
You're saying Bible is more important because Jesus came to destroy Jewish culture, and because Jewish culture emphasized tradition, tradition is less important?

2020-11-09 00:24:41 UTC

Just trying to understand where you're coming from

2020-11-09 00:27:19 UTC

Yes they focus on tradition and laws and the pharisee made the life of Jews bad.
