I got an Anova sous vide machine for Christmas yesterday. Really looking forward to getting to use that.

2020-12-27 00:11:33 UTC

I love mine!!!

2020-12-27 00:11:58 UTC

I used it every holiday this year (and it’s become the standard use for my steaks).

2020-12-27 00:39:27 UTC

I used my sous vide yesterday to cook up a bunch of steaks, they came out amazing!

2020-12-27 00:40:45 UTC

I plan to use it to cook steak for my family and grandparents this week while I'm still home for my college Christmas break.

2020-12-27 00:41:45 UTC

Unfortunately I'm not sure how I'll do it because two people like medium well, three of us medium, and two medium rare.

2020-12-27 00:42:01 UTC

There are ways to do that

2020-12-27 00:42:22 UTC

I had only see ways to do it with two temperature not three.

2020-12-27 00:42:51 UTC

Yeah, I was just going to say that 😬

2020-12-27 00:43:17 UTC

It may be the same principle as two, but I’m not sure

2020-12-27 00:44:11 UTC

Only solution I've come up with is to cook the medium well and medium earlier in the day. Then dinner time cook the medium rare and reheat the other steaks near the end of that so everything's up to temperature and ready to sear at the same time.

2020-12-27 00:48:05 UTC

Yeah, that should work! 😁

2020-12-27 01:05:56 UTC

Ya you could certainly do it that way!! Or maybe leave them a little longer in the pan when reverse searing. 🤷‍♀️

2020-12-27 01:06:16 UTC

You should check out the “sous vide everything” guy in you tube.

2020-12-27 01:23:46 UTC

I watch that channel all the time

2020-12-27 01:56:29 UTC

Smoking it is also an option if you have a smoker?

2020-12-27 01:56:59 UTC

afraid not, my brother told me that's how he cooked his steak.

2020-12-27 01:57:34 UTC

I watch this guy! I love him over on Guga Foods.
I liked when the two of them met to try each other's steaks 🤣 . . .

2020-12-27 02:16:38 UTC

Ugh, most of my family don't want to to sous vide their steaks. They say it will taste boiled, only my father out of pity said he will let me cook his sous vide.

2020-12-27 02:30:31 UTC

🤦🏻‍♂️

2020-12-27 02:30:54 UTC

Did you tell them that you sear it after

2020-12-27 02:33:00 UTC

Maybe you’ll just need to cook yours sous vide and the other regular, and then they’ll all be sad when yours taste the same if not better because of the perfect cook.

2020-12-27 02:42:30 UTC

Ya it’s certainly not boiled. Maybe they’ll try it and be surprised.

2020-12-27 03:13:33 UTC

I did repeatedly, didn't do any good

2020-12-27 03:13:59 UTC

Hmmm, that’s sad 😕

2020-12-28 03:07:11 UTC

How’d they come out?

2020-12-28 03:11:36 UTC

They were very tender and juicy but even thou I cooked them medium I apparently left them in the pan too long when seering so they became much more medium well. I'll need to keep that in mind next time to prevent that.

2020-12-28 03:15:52 UTC

Yeah, the pan needs to be super hot and the steaks need to go in for like 20-30 seconds per side.
