They use tear gas in prison against violent prisoners and during riots.

2020-11-01 23:28:59 UTC

> dude, what else would they use
@RentalCleric You're saying tear gas is fine to use.

2020-11-01 23:29:05 UTC

i am

2020-11-01 23:29:06 UTC

yeah

2020-11-01 23:29:07 UTC

Tear gas is good. (safe alternative)

2020-11-01 23:29:14 UTC

That;s harsh.

2020-11-01 23:29:15 UTC

assuming you didn't get dunked in the head with said grenade

2020-11-01 23:29:28 UTC

what else do you do when people are in large numbers being violent? apparently asking them not to doesnt work

2020-11-01 23:29:32 UTC

> That;s harsh.
@P0ke better then live ammunition or rubber bullets

2020-11-01 23:29:40 UTC

I guess this argument depends on your opinion on tear gas.

2020-11-01 23:29:41 UTC

or would you prefer the firehose

2020-11-01 23:29:50 UTC

I'd prefer Kyle Rittenhouse

2020-11-01 23:30:06 UTC

> or would you prefer the firehose
@ThiccSpicyGenderRevealParty Government Owned Super Soaker*

2020-11-01 23:30:11 UTC

Fuck around and find out.

2020-11-01 23:30:12 UTC

But it's wrong. Cops are literally not supposed to be equipped with tear gas. It's possibly even illegal to use it.

2020-11-01 23:30:19 UTC

Would you prefer the cops use an LRAD?

2020-11-01 23:30:23 UTC

It's legal mate.

2020-11-01 23:30:24 UTC

wait... what?

2020-11-01 23:30:43 UTC

LRAD, the make people go home

2020-11-01 23:30:53 UTC

@P0ke How else do you think Cops can disperse crowds?

2020-11-01 23:31:19 UTC

Banned in war*

> But it's wrong. Cops are literally not supposed to be equipped with tear gas. It's possibly even illegal to use it.
@P0ke in an actual military setting, yes tear gas would be illegal as it would fall under the category of chemical weapons, however, like Counter Terrorism Units, Police aren't held to the same standards as military personnel

2020-11-01 23:31:30 UTC

hence why they use it

They're using tear gas against civilians.

2020-11-01 23:32:00 UTC

Military also aren't allowed to use hollow points but they are legal for civilians. Being illegal for military isn't a good point.

2020-11-01 23:32:05 UTC

the link you sent even backs what we're saying...

2020-11-01 23:32:17 UTC

> They're using tear gas against civilians.
@P0ke They're not soldiers though, they are police

2020-11-01 23:32:18 UTC

Ah, damn.

2020-11-01 23:32:40 UTC

You can still use it on civilians if they are getting too close or violently aggressive.

2020-11-01 23:33:01 UTC

> You can still use it on civilians if they are getting too close or violently aggressive.
@Rocci They didn't get violent...

2020-11-01 23:33:13 UTC

Military is supposed to fight the other side, and kill if necessary. Police are not supposed to fight and kill the opposition, so they use non-lethal alternatives to try to avoid having to go to lethal force...

2020-11-01 23:33:23 UTC

If they are getting too close*

2020-11-01 23:33:35 UTC

Even then, its still better then Tiannamen where peaceful student protesters were massacred by chinese troops

2020-11-01 23:33:38 UTC

i am back now

2020-11-01 23:33:50 UTC

🤦

2020-11-01 23:33:56 UTC

what did i miss

2020-11-01 23:34:16 UTC

as in actually peaceful student protesters were shot at with autocannons and tanks by chinese military

2020-11-01 23:34:34 UTC

Also, after seeing all the rioting and violence in other cities, do you really think the police should not bring tear gas?

2020-11-01 23:34:37 UTC

We are now discussing what the best non lethal weapons the cops can and should use.
